Microgaming’s Super Fun 21 – It’s Fun, but Is It Super?

Don’t let the name fool you – it is not a marketing ploy, but an actual blackjack system that can be found in many land-based casinos. The popular game has been brought online by the veterans from Microgaming, the longest-running software developers in this industry. Super Fun 21 features the well-familiar blackjack system, but some of the side rules are more flexible. Players have the advantage of being able to surrender or double down even after they have asked for a card. The expected RTP of the game is over 99%, which makes it one of the better blackjack choices you will find. Another good news is that this title is available at the online platform of Ladbrokes. The prestigious brand should be well-familiar to you, but our reviewers recommend it to new players not because of the strict security, but rather so that you could take advantage of the impressive welcome bonus package.

Super Fun 21 is considered one of the more innovative systems in blackjack, even though there isn’t anything drastically different in the game. It is very sought after in brick-and-mortar casinos, but somewhat hard to find. Surely, only the best blackjack sites in the UK offer it. You should keep in mind that playing it differs from regular blackjack a little bit – especially if you are an experienced player trained in making quick decisions. Make sure to read all about the new rules in the next parts of our review. Of course, you should also check out our demo section – practice makes perfect, after all!

Practice Super Fun 21 for Free!

Blackjack is one of the most popular casino games, and for good reason. The potential for netting some cash here is immense, but the high RTP figures that you see branded around are only viable if you are playing properly. This means that unlike many other casino games, some practice here can be very helpful. Of course, the final outcome is determined by the luck of the draw – this wouldn’t be a gambling game otherwise – but your skill can influence things significantly. With that in mind, you should take advantage of the Super Fun 21 free-play demo that we have prepared for you. You have the chance to play however much you want with our virtual balance – so get at it!

As you see, Super Fun 21 is indeed quite fun to play. What’s more important, the rules are fairly easy to learn, and the gameplay is very quick after that. Our main gripe with this title is with the graphics. They look somewhat outdated, and we’ve seen Microgaming do much better in their Gold series – Atlantic City Blackjack is just one of the recent examples that we have tested. Super Fun 21 also lacks some of the interface functionality we are used to; changing the size of your wager can be rather fiddly for instance. The design decisions do speed up the game and make it very accessible, but the final result lacks the smooth functionality of games such as Playtech’s Perfect Blackjack.

Overview of the Rules and Features of Super Fun 21 – You HAVE to Take Advantage

Super Fun 21 is a somewhat strange beast in the blackjack world – there are slight variations in the rules that favour the player, and others that do not. You can find blackjack systems with even higher RTP than Super Fun 21 – Blackjack Switch stands at nearly 100% meaning there is almost no house edge! – but if you have good instincts and a little luck, the unique feats here can be very beneficial for you. This is one of the few blackjack games that allow you to use the Surrender or Double options after you have taken a hit. As you well know, Surrender and Double weigh very heavily in longer games, and experienced players can use them to run on a profit. However, most online games do not allow you to pick those options after you have asked for a card, which limits your freedom greatly. With the £1000 maximum wager that you get at some places, managing your money well is an important and very rewarding task.

Outside of that, Super Fun 21 follows a more or less standard format. You have a single deck here, though the cards are shuffled after each round, so rookie card counters shouldn’t get their hopes up. The dealer hits on a soft 17, and stands on a hard 17 and anything above – as you should know, a ‘soft’ combination of card contains one or more aces that can have a 1 or 11 value. You can split hands of equal value, and do this up to 3 times in a single round. You also have the Double Down Rescue option – this means that the game will allow you to surrender after you have doubled your initial wager. This is decidedly not the sign of a good play, but still – it is better to minimise your losses.

Lastly, we should take a look at the different bonus payouts that you have. First off, blackjack pays at 1:1 instead of 3:2; this is a significant loss, because this bonus often makes the difference in a regular game of blackjack. Instead of that, you get 2:1 payment for a Blackjack of Diamonds, and another 2:1 bonus if you manage to make 21 with a hand containing 5 or 6 cards – both things are possible, but unlikely. Super Fun 21 has basically traded the more frequent bonus for two less frequent ones that are dependent on your luck.

Super Fun Play for Real Money

Even though it has its drawbacks, Super Fun 21 has long proven to be one of the better alternatives of regular blackjack. Several slight changes in the rules actually give you a lot more freedom of choice – which, in turn, give you a higher chance of making an error. All to all, we judge the game to be slightly more luck-dependent and slightly more fun than regular old blackjack. All fans of the game should give it a try, and then make an educated decision which system they prefer. Super Fun 21 is available over at Ladbrokes Casino, which is always good news for our team. The gaming catalogue there is pretty impressive, so you would have loads of alternatives even if Super Fun 21 doesn’t turn out to be your cup of tea.
